Christy Suggett was born March 9, 1976 in Twin Falls, Idaho. She grew up in Pearland, Texas, a small town just south of Houston. Christy is the 3rd generation of musicians and singers in her family. She attributes her success to her dedicated Christian parents who had a great influence on her music career. She has been singing since she was old enough to say, "Gimme the Mic". Christy learned about life on the road by singing and playing drums at churches and youth conventions across the nation with her Pentecostal evangelist parents. While preaching revivals, Christy's daddy put a chair on the platform and let the brave 3 year old do what came natural: singing in the microphone. Performing inspirational music has always been her passion. Christy says, "I knew it was my calling from the very beginning. There is no greater feeling than singing in a room filled with positive energy and knowing you're right where you should be".
Her first gospel demo album was recorded when she was 15 years old. Christy's momentum built over the next several years as she traveled nationwide performing as a soloist and drummer in the Christian Life College choral group. While attending college in Stockton, California, she studied Music Theory, Music History, Ear Training, Site Reading, Piano, and Vocal Technique. Christy has served as a Children's Choir Director. She was a Lead Soloist in the musical production "The Fire Still Falls" at First Church in Pearland, Texas. For the past 6 years, Christy has supported The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by singing at various fundraiser events. Christy's dream is that "someday every cancer patient will be cured."
In 2005, with a top score of 40 and singing Country music, Christy was named Winner of KPRC Houston's "Gimme the Mike". She received the grand prize: a Jeep Liberty Renegade, and a two-song recording deal from Dan Workman at the legendary SugarHill Recording Studios in Houston, TX.
For over fifteen years at local and international events her voice has showcased a wide range of styles and genres including Gospel, Country, Jazz, Big Band, Disco, R&B, Pop/Rock, Classic Rock, 80's & 90's, and Top 40. Currently Christy is a Lead Singer in Houston's premier party band "The Works". She shares the stage with 9 of the finest singers and musicians covering some of her favorite songs, such as Patsy Cline's "Crazy" and Gretchen Wilson's "Redneck Woman". Since December 2005, she has performed at more than 100 major corporate, private and public events with the group. Want more? See Events page.
